Love's Separate Halves

Table of Contents | Print

Memories still linger
Of a place our hearts once shared
Outside this very universe
Alone together, nothing else compared.

Now time has injected a distance
As our lives take different paths.
Our souls need different meaning,
No longer whole but separate halves.

Your friendship means too much to me
To ever let stop growing,
Without an occasional visit
We may drift apart, without even knowing.

Let’s show some perseverance
Though we’re both busy as can be
Let’s set a date, a place, a time,
For dinner, you and me.

The past is well behind us now,
The present stares us in the eye.
Love came and went, always to remain
I’ll never question why.
