The Knife of Disappointment

Table of Contents | Print

Disappointment is such an empty feeling.
Not lonely,
For loneliness merely begs for company.

But rather a rude awakening
That expectations and aspirations
Were removed from the truth.

The knife cuts deepest
Not because someone failed to act as desired,
But rather in oneself for allowing
Such dreams to surface
Without ever looking for actions
To support promising words.

Or were words spoken really true,
Only I found meaning a sensitive heart longed to uncover?
