Life was so easy then,
Even in the hardest times.
The sun shined through my smile
And the stars sparkled in my eyes.
There was no such thing as reaching too far,
All I had to do was reach
And it was mine.
And so, when I ask myself
Why love must disappear
Just when I’m getting used to having it around,
I already know.
For even now
As I begin to fill that void,
I know that someday soon
The sides will be overflowing,
Too small for even my own self
To fit into.
Only then will it be time
To love again.
